I was touched when I heard this song and the blog that follows explains why. This song is 38:14 minutes into the Birthday Celebration program for Thomas S. Monson.

Spiritual Moment & Prophetic Dream
I found the pic above. It is a beautiful orchid that just happens to bear my name. My prayer is that I bring beauty and joy to others much like the beauty of this flower brings joy to me. Music also inspires me, as you see from my the blog prior to this one. The song that prompted my memory and this blog was sung recently by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in their "Celebration of Life", a birthday tribute to President Monson, President and Prophet of the LDS Church. The choir was accompanied by the band of the Air Force Reserve, which is also significant to my miracle story. My first husband and father of my five children was in the Air Force for the first four years of our marriage.
Another flower in my life that brings joy to me is my beautiful daughter, Audrey Hall. Every one of my children are on my mind and in my heart always. I love them all. This beautiful selection, "Consider the Lilies of the Field", reminded me of the inspiration that lead me to the decision to trust God and have another child. It was 1979. I had three boys under five and thought my hands were full. On top of that, my husband Bill said he was planning to get out of the Air Force. He had no job prospects lined up nor did we know where we would live! One morning he told me about a dream he had. He said this beautiful little blonde blue-eyed girl appeared before him and begged, "Please let me come", "Please let me come", "Please let me come"! Three times! I was surprised. God had given me no such notification. I said, "It must have been something you ate." He was adamant that his dream held great and deep meaning. I practically said if I got pregnant now we would have no insurance for the birth of the baby. It was bad timing to have another child. Then Bill had the same dream two more times! In his dreams there were two other little girls that were to come. After those three witnesses I could no longer hold out in my disbelief. But, oh boy! This was just too much! Would God send a request like this now? I often turned to Karen, my sister twelve years older than me. Back then we had "snail mail" so I wrote a letter to Karen about my dilemma and she wrote back, encouraging me to read in Matthew 6:28-33. As I did I was moved to tears. I qoute the verses from the King James Version of the Bible:
"28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
I prayerfully considered my options, putting all in the Lord's hands. I had had difficult pregnancies, even requiring drugs and surgery to prevent early births. One birth was in the thousands, but the insurance through the Air Force had covered most of it. With faith, I stopped using birth control. Yet, still thinking I could help out God a little and maybe still being of little faith, I grabbed a book off the shelf of the library, entitled, "How to choose the Sex of Your Baby". I guess I thought we could use a little scientific help! I took my temperature faithfully as recommended by the Doctors who wrote the book and planned our intimate moments accordingly to ensure I would have a girl. Well, according to my chart and temperature recordings, we messed up! I was sure we had created a boy! I thought that God was having us wait for that little girl, sneaking in another boy in the meantime. I even went so far to tell the doctor at one of my visits that "HE" was kicking a lot. The Doctor said, "You said "HE"." "Oh, yeah, its another boy", I replied with conviction. I guess I thought I was only a "boy-making" machine! Ha! Just in case, Bill and I tossed around some girl's names. I chose Abigail. He did not like it. So we settled on Audrey Ann. The middle name belonged to my sister Dorothy. In those days, we had sonograms, but no way to tell the sex of the unborn. We had to wait for the birth. I was delightfully surprised when a beautiful girl was born. There were other elements surrounding the delivery that were miraculous. During my pregnancy, I saw specialists and a nutritionist in a city about a 30 minute drive away and paid for each visit, but planned to have our baby in a small country hospital where they had a nice birthing room, about an hour's drive up a mountain! I chose that location because it would only be $300 a night if all went well, (with no complications). I prayed hard and felt an assurance that all would go well. How I hoped for that, I don't know, because each of my three boys had been born breech and my husband had not been able to be present. Well, Audrey showed the boys how it is to be done by coming the normal way, head first, and we had her in the birthing room with my husband present. In fact, he got to hold her for a moment before he had to rush off to take a test for truck driving school. The birth was au-natural and I required no medication or stitches. Then, as I rested in my hospital room contemplating just staying one day to cut our expenses, a staff member of the hospital gave me some paperwork to fill out. She said there was a grant that might pay for some or all of my stay. I filled it out and low and behold, she came back and said it had been approved. Our entire hospital bill was covered! I think back and am amazed at how it all worked out. As Audrey grew into a toddler, Bill said that Audrey looked just like the little girl in his dream. You can imagine she was the apple of his eye. The second little girl from Bill's dream came a few years later. I never had a third girl or another child, (Bill said there should have been one more in between the two girls) but I sometimes wonder if my granddaughter Ana is that little girl. She just had to wait awhile and came to Audrey. People often tell me how she looks like me. She is special to me too as are all of my grandchildren.
Listening to this song in August 2012 brings me to tears and prompts memories of how the Lord blesses us abundantly with daily miracles! It got me to thinking about my own celebration of life and the recurring miracles I enjoy. I think we just need to be aware that we are not alone. We are being watched over and cared for, so if we just step out in faith....the Lord helps us along the way.

"I want to pick your brain". Where did that expression come from? Certain foods are look like human organs. Walnut meat looks like a human brain, with nutrients to nourish that particular organ. I use picks when cracking walnuts, so maybe that is where the saying came from? I don't know, but it is something to think about. I am not saying you or I are nuts, but the subject of being able to "pick your brain" is food for thought! When I say it, I mean I want to get to know you, learn more about you! When in session with a client, I gather information to help my client make desired changes, to use her brain in the most effective way to become her most magnificent self. You can read more about other foods that look like body parts here in a Woman's Day article about Food Nutrition Facts.
Cuisinart SmartPower Deluxe Blender (Google Affiliate Ad) I recommend using a good blender to make your green juice. You need a strong blender to get the juice to a smoothie state, not chunky, unless you want to chew it instead of drink it.
PICK YOUR BRAIN? - AW NUTS!
Carrots are good for your eyes and a sliced piece of carrot resembles the human eye, slightly. Walnuts look like and nourish the human brain. I was using a pick to get the meat out of a walnut shell. Does the saying "I want to pick your brain" originate from picking out walnut meat?

Hi Quitter! No body wants to be a quitter, but this is a good kind of quitting: Stop smoking with hypnosis! So, instead of saying "I am quitting" or identifying with being a quitter, say "I am stopping smoking", "I am breathing fresh air now", and identify with being a non-smoker. Habits run by your subconscious mind and can be changed. After your first session you will notice a difference.
The cost? Your program* was $530 and for a limited time is just $350!
How much do you spend on cigarettes? What else would you like you do with all that money?
AOL Daily Finance reports:
“The average smoker burns through 13 to 16 cigarettes a day, or four to six packs a week. That adds up. The average smoker forks over at least $1,500 a year, while here in New York City, its closer to $3,300.”
Now, back to the question, what will it cost me to stop smoking?
Rather, the question should be: “What will it cost me to not stop smoking!” You already know the answer to that question: years of pain, unable to breathe, bad smell, places you can’t smoke, feeling ostracized, bad example to children, worried loved ones having to care for you should you get lung cancer, etc. The list goes on….
Are you ready now to take charge of your life and take back the time, money, energy and health that this nasty habit has stolen from you? If not, don’t call me. Call me only if you are serious about stopping smoking.
PAY HERE Be a quitter! Of Smoking, that is! *Your program: 4 1/2 hours hypnotherapy: first session 1½ hours, three 1 hour follow-ups. After that, I recommend a “booster” at 3 months, 6 months and a year to prevent relapse.

Taking A Personal Inventory
Inventory of Actions: Both Good and Bad
It is important to value and recognize the way we spend our time and energy, and give ourselves credit for the good things we do. This can encourage us to continue to do good things, and to accomplish more. At the same time, it is important to not only be aware of our short-comings, but to log them alongside our strengths. this creates a balanced inventory that we can work with. Acknowledging that we make mistakes can help us figure out a plan to do things better today. To live life on purpose, we need to be aware of the little choices made each day. Here is an example of what I mean:
GOOD: Went walking yesterday for about 45 minutes to an hour. Got extra work done; Worked three locations.

Showing Respect for Children
Respect Begets Respect. If we want respect from our children we need to value who they are. We need to respect their space and their desires. When we strive to understand their hearts, we appreciate them more. Parenting is demanding. It is a challenge that requires unselfishness and patience. It is a worthwhile investment.
Children will be more likely to listen when you lovingly ask them to do things they know they need to do. Children are often ordered around. For example, they are daily told things like, "Do your homework. Pick up your room. Take a shower. Brush your teeth. Take your medicine." Imagine your boss treated you that way? Perhaps he does and you resent it. You like to be treated as a human, not a computer or robot. You want appreciation and sometimes to be asked so you can make the choice.
Children can be given limited choices based on age and ability to respond. You might ask, "Do you want to turn off the video game Now or in Five minutes?" Inevitably, the child will choose the five minutes, and are more likely to be compliant. I asked my three year old granddaughter if she wanted to put her coat on or carry it. She chose to carry it, but when she got outside, she asked me to help her put it on. Had I said, "Put your coat on now" how would any self-respecting three-year respond? She would say "No!" We all want options to to excercise our freedom of choice. Giving children safe and reasonable options at a young age gets them thinking. They are processing choices and consequences. Put your arm around your child and ask them to do the required task in a loving, but firm way. Remember to give an option, as in Now or in ____ minutes. See how well it takes some of the stress out of parenting. For more tips on parenting from love and logic: http://www.loveandlogic.com/

I know that there are principles of manifesting that just make good sense. Like the one I just wrote about making room in your life and heart for what you want!
I know that there are principles of manifesting that just make good sense. Like the one I just wrote about making room in your life and heart for what you want!
Manifesting
You desire something or someone to enter your life. How have you prepared to accept that change? Have you made room in your heart, your mind, your home for this to occur? Have you created the necessary space? I read about a story about a woman who was praying for her soul mate to come into her life. It just didn't seem to be happening and she was discouraged. A friend pointed out to her that her closet and dresser drawers did not reflect the invitation, because they were full! "Where will your future mate put his things?", She asked. One might say, oh, you could do that later, after you decided to make that commitment. But the energy is still there and is a visual to your unconscious mind that there is no space for him. Does your environment reflect the space necessary for what you desire? If not, prepare it now. Clean out what you don't need and make space in your heart, mind, and home! Maybe it means preparing a nursery for a baby.
I am reminded of the phrase from the film, Field of Dreams: "If you build it, they will come. Creating the necessary space is taking a leap of faith. It is making a commitment to accept this new person or item into your life. It is saying, "I am ready". I have time, space and energy to invite this into my life.
You need to make room for that person or thing, whatever it is. Remember there was no room for Jesus at any of the inns. They were not expecting him and did not prepare by leaving a space for him. They missed out! Don't you miss out!
First, focus on what you really want to manifest. How much time, energy, and space are you willing to devote to having this person / thing in your life?
Nothing great is easily won! It takes effort.

Day 8 of Cleanse and More
Whew. I am nearing the finish line. This cleanse is not for the faint of heart. Good thing I have viking genes. I am glad to cleanse my body of unwanted mucus, and the inflammation that goes along with that. I am also cleansing my digestive tract from the inside out - no colon hydrotherapy, just the salt water drink in the AM that is part of the Master cleanse. I only do 2 1/2 cups of warm salt water because the recommended 4 cups is too much for my system. As I cleanse, I am also aware that I need to cleanse spiritually, as well. Here is one example of how I take that awareness of my thoughts and feelings so I can "clean house". Ok, so I get this email and in the message line, it reads, "Are you a push over?"...I think to myself, "Am I? Perhaps." I wonder what my body cells believe and I stood up right then and sway tested and got: guess what, a "YES" response! I will take a few minutes to work on changing that using the processes learned in ThetaHealing. Come take my class July 29-31 and learn how you can help yourself and others! Get more info at www.susanbliss.com click on Sessions / Trainings Hope to see you in my classes!

Lemonade Diet or Master Cleanse
I have been following Stanley Burrows Master Cleanse for six days now. It is not easy, but it not terribly difficult either. At least I have no dishes to wash from cooking. I just mix up the lemons, water, cayenne and maple syrup. When hungry, I drink my "lemonade". I know I have already lost some excess wieght around my middle. My goal is 10 to 12 days. I am watching the coating on my tongue that appeared as I did the cleanse. When it is gone, you are finished, Stanley Burrows reports. I will be glad when that day comes. I will then have to gradually introduce food, because, besides the warm salt water in the morning, I am only consuming water, herbal tea and my lemonade. I confess I had watermelon twice during the first three days. I figure it is a cleansing fruit.

Happy Independence Day 2011! Teaching Sincerity to our children allows them to learn the value of Freedom of Speech
Teaching sincerity to children can be a task. One wonders what they actually pick up on. Yesterday, I had an ah-ha moment while I watched a young mother put a dried up felt tip pen to her mouth to see if that would moisten it enough to make it work. She then handed the pen back to her 18 month old daughter, who mimicked her mother's behavior! Her mother immeadiately said, "Oh, honey, you don't want to put that in your mouth."
A common saying that reflects this type of behavior is,
My sister, a social worker, once told me that you should not make a child say "I am sorry" if they do not really feel it. If the child is still angry and feeling resentment, forcing him to say "I am sorry" when he is feeling resentment, teaches insincerity. The child learns that it is ok to feel one way and show another face to the world. He may stuff his resentment, question how he feels. He may even decide, "I must be a bad boy because I don't feel sorry." Instead of immeadiately telling him what to say and do, honor his feelings by taking him aside and asking, "Are you mad at Sally?" and "Why are you mad?" Then, after listening to his response and validating his feelings (because under anger is usually another feeling, like fear or hurt) You may ask "Are you sad that you hurt Sally?" "What do you want to say to her?" Let children come around. Even as adults, we need time to process our own feelings. When we feel hurt or threatened, we often respond defensively, sometimes saying or doing things we later regret. Then, after calming down and thinking it through, we often apologize to the person we hurt. Children need their feelings validated so they can learn how to handle them as they mature. Of course, we don't teach them to always say exactly what they are feeling or thinking. Children are brutally honest and most adults understand this and are not bothered by it. An example is my granddaughter asking why my friend wears a patch over her eye. I allowed her to ask the woman and the woman did not mind explaining it to her. It satisfied my grandduaghter's curiousity and mine too, frankly. As we grow and learn about communication skills, we learn that there is fine line between being tactful and insincere. One needs to learn that sometimes it is wise to not speak at all. At that same time, we honor how we feel and temper our emotions to respond appropriately so as not to offend. I had to learn this lesson the hard way. I remember an incident where I said something that I had not intended as an insult, but it was taken that way. I also discovered that I had inherited certain attitudes, but that is for another blog, another day!
A common saying that reflects this type of behavior is,
"Monkey see, monkey do."Wikipedia tells us:
"The saying refers to the learning of a process without an understanding of why it works. Another definition implies the act of mimicry, usually with limited knowledge of the consequences."Children are always watching and learning from the examples set before them. We need to be diligent and aware of the role we play as teachers. Everyone of us has an influence of good or bad, whether we are grandparents, neighbors, parents, or older siblings. Children look up to and trust their care givers to guide them. They have no other example to look to except those they are with. We are either teaching integrity and sincerity or hypocrisy and dishonesty. Of course, there are many things that adults can do that children cannot or should not do. These are times when it is acceptable and imperative to say no, you cannot do that.
My sister, a social worker, once told me that you should not make a child say "I am sorry" if they do not really feel it. If the child is still angry and feeling resentment, forcing him to say "I am sorry" when he is feeling resentment, teaches insincerity. Raw! Raw!
The concept of eating raw and living foods is not new to me. I learned from my mother in the 60's and 70's how to sprout seeds and grains. I liked sprouted lentils then. Today I made a wonderful salad by finely grating 4 carrots and 1/4 cup chopped dates in my processor. I switched the blade to the bigger holes on the disc and grated fresh frozen pineapple chunks next. I soaked a few Tablespoons each of sunflower seeds and cashews. I mixed up a dressing of: 1/2 mayo, 2 T Vinegar and Oil Dressing, 1/2 Tsp paprika, and pinch of nutmeg. I dumped the carrot mixture into the bowl with the dressing, added 1/4 cup of raisins and the nuts. Served it up on some fresh Romaine Leaves from the garden. I put the sprouted seed mix as an option on the side.
Kevin like his without the sprouts. I had some with and some without sprouts.
